This document is your policy wording and it explains how our rain insurance works, what's covered, what's not, and what your rights are. This policy and your policy schedule, together contain the terms on which we agree to insure you.

WeatherIt offers this insurance as an Authorised Representative (AR No. 001317725) of the insurer. The insurer is Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Company Ltd (ABN 49 000 525 637; AFSL No. 240 816), an Australian Prudential Regulation Authority regulated insurer.

Certain words used in this document have a special meaning. To help you understand these terms, we show them in bold in the document and explain what they mean below:

"accommodation booking"

• the accommodation you have booked from WeatherIt's partner accommodation provider.

"insured dates"

• the cover start date and the cover end date of this insurance as shown in your policy schedule.

"insured location"

• the geographical location of your accommodation booking in Australia as shown in your policy schedule.

"payout amount"

• the fixed amount we will pay if the rain threshold has been met or exceeded, as shown in your policy schedule.

"rain threshold"

• the minimum rainfall level specified in your policy schedule that must occur during the rainfall coverage hours at your insured location during insured dates to trigger a payout under this insurance.

"rainfall coverage hours"

• the hours shown in your policy schedule.

"WeatherIt"

• Insuretech Services Pty Ltd trading as WeatherIt (ABN 26 683 621 285, AR No. 001317725).

"we", "us", "our"

• the insurer, Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Company Ltd (ABN 49 000 525 637, AFSL No. 240 816).

"you", "your"

• the person shown as the 'Policyholder' on your policy schedule.

"your policy schedule"

• the document titled 'policy schedule' we issue to you that confirms the details of your insurance.

We pay you the payout amount if it rains enough during the rainfall coverage hours at your insured location during your insured dates. To work out the rainfall at your insured location, we use trusted weather data sources. Trusted data sources can include the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) and the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF).

This insurance is not travel insurance. It is not intended to cover cancellation costs for your accommodation booking. The payout is made if it rains enough and we pay whether you decide to continue with or change your accommodation booking.

You don't need to prove any loss - if it rains enough, we confirm your payment details and then authorise the payment immediately.

• You must be 18 years or older to buy the insurance.
• You can purchase the insurance when you make your accommodation booking. It includes campsites, campgrounds, holiday parks, farm stays, cabins, lodges and glamping bookings.
• You must buy the insurance at least 48 hours before the start of your insured dates.
• You must pay the premium quoted to you for the insurance before the start of your insured dates.
• If we do not receive full payment for your policy when it is due, we may cancel the policy. If this happens, we will notify you and the policy will end from the date and time we specify in that notice.
• The insurance must be for your own personal purposes and not for a commercial or business purpose.
• Only one WeatherIt policy is permitted to be purchased in conjunction with your accommodation booking.

We pay you the payout amount if the rain threshold is met or exceeded at your insured location during the insured dates. Your policy schedule shows the insured location, insured dates, rainfall coverage hours, rain threshold and payout amount.

We don't pay:

• For rainfall that doesn't meet or exceed the rain threshold.
• More than your payout amount.
• Fraudulent claims.

If the rain threshold has been met or exceeded at your insured location during the insured dates, we send you an email or SMS within 24 hours asking how you'd like to be paid.

We use BOM weather data to confirm rainfall levels. If for any reason BOM data is unavailable, we will use secondary data from the ECMWF to confirm rainfall. The name and location of the closest BOM weather station to your insured location is shown in your policy schedule and we will source rainfall data from that weather station. The location of the BOM weather station will likely differ from the actual location of your insured location with this distance identified on your policy schedule. In the event we must source data from the ECMWF, we will obtain and use data for the same location (the closest BOM weather station to your insured location) and as specified on your policy schedule.

There is no excess to pay when you make a claim.

Once we obtain data from the BOM or ECMWF, as applicable, this data will not be modified, and it shall be considered final, accurate and binding for all parties. No extraneous evidence of rainfall shall be considered by the BOM, ECMWF or the Insurer.

You can only cancel your insurance if you also cancel your accommodation booking. If you need to cancel the insurance, contact WeatherIt at [email protected]

• If you cancel your insurance more than 2 days before your insured date, you'll get a full return of the premium once you have provided WeatherIt with written confirmation that your accommodation booking has been cancelled.

They will acknowledge receipt of your complaint within 1 working day and aim to respond within 30 days. If you are not happy with the outcome, you may be able to lodge a complaint with the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) at www.afca.org.au.

If AFCA can hear your complaint (it's free of charge to you) and where they make a determination about your complaint, we have to comply with it but you don't.

We have subscribed to the General Insurance Code of Practice. The Code was developed by the Insurance Council of Australia to raise the standards of practice and service across the insurance industry. This insurance is governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Except where you can access AFCA for dispute resolution, any disputes about the insurance will be handled by the courts in New South Wales.
